Disease-state dependent immune cell phenotypes in neuropsychiatric disorders: an insight on cell therapy and biomarker discovery

Event Details: Dr. Shamma Rahman is a researcher and an educator in the fields of physiology and immunology, with a focus on cellular mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders. She completed her doctoral studies in cellular and integrative physiology from University of Nebraska Medical Center, and continued on to her postdoctoral training in immunology at Stanford University. Her work at Stanford resulted in significant contributions to the understanding of immune cell involvement in neuropsychiatric disorders, including the identification of novel brain-homing myeloid cells in pediatric patients. Bridging basic and clinical research, Dr. Rahman's work offers insights into neurobiology's complexities, driving advancements in diagnostics and therapies for neurological disorders. Her passion for unraveling the mysteries of the human brain underscores her commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing neuroscience knowledge.
